The MURU mark: four woven strokes, three ivory and one gold, standing on a basalt ground.

Baghdad — Sulaymaniyah

A surface that belongs.

Art carpets, bespoke rugs, walls and drapery — designed once, woven once, for one space and one client.

Three hold the line. The fourth bends.

01 · The house

A bespoke surface house.

A design house standing between interior architecture, art and craftsmanship — never a carpet store. The client at the centre; the surface drawn around them.

  • Macro view of madder-red fringe knots against dark basalt stone, raking side light picking out every twist of wool.

    The craft

Pieces that exist once. Made to your measure, made to your taste, woven for one space in the world — yours.

  • A basalt mortar and pestle filled with ground madder root, red dye powder and a skein of red wool on a stone workbench.

    The material

The palette is dyed, not picked. Madder root, indigo vats, undyed fleece, basalt stone — colour that comes from somewhere.

  • A traditional room in low sun — light through a mashrabiya screen falling in long shadows across a deep red and indigo carpet.

    The standard

Architectural precision and honest materials, held to one measure: the house will not present work below its own standard.

02 · The work

One thing, sold through five doors.

Every line is the same discipline at a different scale — the four strokes carried into floors, walls and cloth. The house name leads; the line name qualifies.

03 · Bespoke, three ways

Bespoke is productized and tiered — never vague.

  • Rolled carpets standing in a dark showroom, lit softly from above.

    Door one

    MURU Select

    From 8 weeks

A studio design, woven to order in your size. Lead time stated at order — the fastest door.

  • A floor plan on a desk with wool swatches, a brass ruler and a fan of colour samples.

    Door two

    MURU Custom

    From 12 weeks

A studio design re-drawn for your space — colour, scale, shape, material — approved on a true-scale rendering.

  • Hands comparing woven sample swatches at a table in warm window light.

    Door three

    MURU Bespoke

    From 16 weeks

A new design that exists once — the full nine-station journey, a woven strike-off before production, edition 1 of 1.

The refusal right. MURU will not present a rendering or sample that does not meet the client's expectation or the house's own standard. Every door states its lead time in writing; every strike-off is approved by signature.

04 · The record

The house, counted.

The numbers are kept the way the geometry is kept — plain, lining, tabular.

06 · In their words

Spoken for by its spaces.

We stopped drawing the floor. We sent MURU the room's measurements and its light, and the floor answered both.

Architect · private villa, Baghdad

The strike-off arrived woven, not printed. That is when the committee stopped asking for alternatives.

Design director · hotel commission, Erbil

It is the only object in the majlis made after the architecture — and the only one that looks like it was there first.

Private client · Sulaymaniyah

Their refusal right is real. They declined our first brief, and they were right to.

Interior designer · Dubai

The surface becomes the architecture.
